Spring Has Sprung!

So I don't know about you, but I always think of the end of February and the beginning of March as Spring. Usually, I'm a big fan of the cold, Winter and Autumn months, but these past two years I have been really looking forward to Spring.

Last year, I was walking home from school and as I entered my garden I sort of became aware. Aware of how, for months, the world had seemed dead. Birds hadn't been chirping, the sky had been filled with grey clouds and everything had just been so dull and lifeless.

Yet on this bright day in the end of February, it seemed as though the world had awakened from a long beauty sleep. And boy, had it woken up more beautiful. The sky was a gorgeous shade of blue, with a few white fluffy clouds here and there. The birds were cheeping a little happy song, and brightly coloured flowers were starting to show.

It was then that I realised, I love Spring. How the world seems to awaken, how it's a new start for life to grow and be beautiful.

I view Spring as a new start; for the animals, for the plants and for me. It's time to reinvent yourself, do something you desperately want to do.

Winter is over, and it's time to get out there and show the world what you're made of!

How about you? Do you like Spring? Tell me what you think about this glorious season in the comments below.

Old Writings

At the beginning of summer last year, a magazine I read was offering someone the chance to meet Zoella and SprinkleOfGlitter if they could write a short article about an issue that affects teenage girls. I wrote the article and edited it and spent a lot of time on it, yet somehow never had the motivation to send it in. I probably got distracted by Evan Peters.
However, today I would like to share it with you. I know it isn't amazing or the standard I write to now, but I was very proud of it and will definitely keep looking back on this as I grow up.

One of the issues that affects teenage girls today is self confidence. With super skinny models popping up on the runway and celebrities wearing a face full of expensive makeup on the red carpet, it's common for teenage girls to have low self esteem or feel as though they aren't good enough. Social media can also often misrepresent someone's true appearance and can make them appear to have no flaws at all. Although this may not always be a bad thing, it can sometimes lead to serious issues such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders. In a lot of cases these aren't always the outcomes, but low self esteem can be quite damaging and affect you in different ways. However, there are a few quick fixes! Here are some tips to boost your self confidence and love yourself as much as you should!

Tip #1: Accept yourself! Although it sounds easier than it might be, you need to remember that at this age your body is constantly changing and growing for the better. When you have accepted this, you can then accept your body and who you are.

Tip #2: Ditch the negative thoughts! Don't think about how your hair isn't as curly as your bestie's or you're not as rich as the popular girl in your class, focus on you and your best feautures.Every time you feel yourself thinking about your negatives, swap the negatives with the positives!

Tip #3: To help yourself remember the positive things, write down your best feautures and positive quotes on brightly coloured sticky notes and put them somewhere you will see them everyday. This way you will be reminded of how amazing you are!

Tip #4: Celebrate your beauty and individuality! Everyone is beautiful, tall or short, red head or blonde. Celebrate what makes you different because this is what makes you beautiful!

Tip #5: Lastly, don't forget to love yourself! Loving yourself is one of they key points to happiness and it's something that will make your whole life a lot easier! When you're not concentrating on how good your fave celebrity's new hair do is or about how your friend gets spoiled more than you do, you will find your life a lot better!

There are some tips to hopefully build your self confidence and help you give yourself the love you deserve! Just remember, keep smiling!

Remember what younger me said, keep smiling because you deserve every good thing you've ever been given!

Clean Space, Clean Mind

I am one of those people who believe strongly that your surroundings can affect how you're feeling. I feel as though a tidy room space will create a tidy mind, something which I rather enjoy having.

As much as I would love to say the desk below is mine, unfortunately I can't.

My desk right now is horrible. It is so covered with textbooks, worksheets, pens that don't work and old water bottles that you can barely see the actual desk itself!

Therefore, this has actually made me hate my being in my room and want to stay as far away from it as I can!

However, tidying it quickly, putting the books and sheets into a pile, putting pens in pots etc can make such a difference.

Make your goal of the week to keep your room tidy (for the most part). It will honestly make you feel so much better and keep you in a happier mood all week.

Mini Haul

Recently, I have picked up 3 makeup bits and I wanted to share them with you as even though my blog is mainly a lifestyle blog, I do like to share some beauty and fashion with you.

So firstly I picked up the Rimmel BB Cream as I had run out of my foundation and wanted something a little bit lighter for the upcoming spring and summer months. Mine is in the colour medium and I was actually very surprised by how good this was. It is a perfect match for my skin tone and goes smoothly onto my skin. It didn't leave me looking oily and it lasted for a good few hours without the need for powder.

I was browsing the L'Oreal stan looking for the Cheryl's nude lipstick (which they didn't have, sad face) when I came across this one. This is Julianne's nude and it is a gorgeous nude lipstick. I am in love with the colour and the packaging, in my opinion is looks really luxurious.

Then lastly is the Maybelline Master Precise liquid eyeliner in black. I have been wanting a liquid eyeliner for a long time and I wanted just a cheap one which would be easy to apply and my friend recommended this to me so I picked it up. I haven't tried it yet but I have high hopes for this little product.

So that was everyting I bought. Have you ever tried any of these products? If so, let me know in the comments!

See you later

Valentine's Day

In my opinion, when it comes to Valentine's Day there are three different types of people.

Person 1
Someone who is in a relationship/is a romantic and enjoys spending the day with their loved one/s handing out cards and heart shaped chocolates like they're free (they aren't, they are actually very expensive!)

Person 2:
Someone who thinks Valentine's day is a commercial pile of crap used by companies all over the world looking to get more money, or by girls looking to show off their boyfriends.

Person 3:
Someone who thinks of Valentine's day as a normal day and thinks nothing of it. What's the big deal about flowers anyway?

Usually, I would have classed myself as person three, but this year it's slightly different. Me and my friend were joking around saying how we should be each other's Valentine, and now that's what's happening!

However, I personally don't think Valentine's day should be as big of a deal as it is. I feel as though you should treat every day as if it is an important day for love, because it is. Just because your favourite shop has put a few hearts on the window you shouldn't suddenly be in a 'I want to show everyone how much I love them!' mood, you should be like that anyway.

But I know some people can't do that everyday, and Valentine's day is the day where you can really go overboard with the affection and gifts.

So whether you're on a romantic date with your partner, or sitting at home with your friends eating pizza and drooling over Dylan O'Brien (same), enjoy February 14th, but remember, it's only another day!

See you later!

OOTD | Shopping

I am not a petit girl, that's a fact. I'm not short and I don't have really skinny legs or a flat stomach. Yet somehow I still find myself drawn to clothes like cropped sweaters or skater skirts, things which would expose parts of me I'm not 100% comfortable with sharing with the world.

However, recently I put together an outfit which contains both of these things and let me tell you, I have never felt more confident in my entire life.

Jumper: New Look
Skirt: New Look
Tights: I can't remember, probably New Look
Boots: New Look
Coat (in the background): Dorothy Perkins

I am so in love with this jumper. It is cropped but I tucked it into my skirt so you couldn't tell. In the warmer months if I'm feeling a bit brave I might wear this with a pair of high waisted shorts. It's probably unlikely, but we'll see!

I am soooooo in love with these boots! I never want to take them off! I don't usually wear things with heels or wedges as I'm quite tall already (5ft7 to be exact) but I just couldn't resist these. Even though they do have a slight heel/wedge, they are extremely comfy.

So that was my ootd for last Saturday's shopping trip, and it's probably my favourite outfit at the moment.

What's your favourite outfit/clothing piece at the moment? Tell me in the comments because I would love to hear. Or read..

See you later!

Relax

Ever since I was very little, in fact possibly since birth, I have always found it hard to get to sleep. Once I was asleep, I had no difficulty staying asleep for about 16 hours (or until someone woke me up for food) but it was always getting to sleep that was the problem.

I found this was because I never managed to fully relax my body and my brain. It was always on the go, thinking about whether I had packed my school bag for the next day to whether I was going to be married by the time I was 30 or not. Your average thoughts on a Tuesday night, really.

However, recently I have managed to get myself into a routine of finishing my homework earlier, showering earlier and getting into bed earlier so that I've had time to relax before I go to sleep.

My routine usually consists of me having a long relaxing shower, getting into warm cosy pyjamas and sitting in bed with a warm cup of hot chocolate or tea while watching American Horror Story.

This has honestly helped me so much as this past week I have noticed how much happier and more awake I am because I've been relaxing more, therefore getting more sleep.

My advice to you would be to relax! Take time out of your schedule (no matter how busy it is!) to relax and have a little bit of time to yourself. Whether you chose to do this by having a pamper routine or watching your favourite movie, make sure you do it regularly. It will make you feel so much better!
